Harding Fine Arts Academy - 10 Years and Counting
HFAA was founded in 2005 by John L. Belt and the HFAA Board of Directors with the vision that education was not just preparation for life; education is life itself. Community leaders and fine arts advocates that had the belief that a comprehensive education requires more than book knowledge created the vision for HFAA. In addition to the traditional required academic subjects, including mathematics, English, science, and social studies, students may select as many as three elective classes in dance, music, theatre or visual arts programs. Some of Oklahoma City’s finest artists and musicians are available as instructors, advisors and artists-in-residence. Over the past ten years Harding has emerged from a fledgling startup with a skeleton staff and only 65 freshmen to over 365 students 9th-12th and a faculty of almost 30 full-time teachers.
HFAA is fully accredited by AdvancED© and the Oklahoma State Dept. of Education. We are also the very first A+ (Oklahoma A+ Schools©). We have been praised by both for our balance between academic rigor, art integration, and project-based learning.
For the 2013- 2014 school year HFAA received a score of an A+ from the Oklahoma State Department of Education and HFAA has been named one of the top ten high schools in Oklahoma by US News & World Report. Recently Newsweek.com ranked HFAA in the top 500 high schools in the nation in the "Newsweek’s ‘Beating the Odds’ list identifying schools that do an excellent job of preparing their students for college while also overcoming the obstacles posed by students at an economic disadvantage.
We have so many people to thank for helping provide our students with this unique and exceptional learning environment- our board of directors, faculty, past and present administration, parents/guardians, students, community and business leaders. We at HFAA feel it is a privilege and an honor to partner with you in the education of your students.
