World History

Course Description:
World History is a course designed to simulate an entry-level college classroom environment. The course covers the equivalent of two semesters (6 credit hours) of a college level western and eastern civilization class. It provides an analytical perspective on world historical events. In this course, we will explore the patterns of world history in order to provide you with a better understanding of our human past and our world today. We will explore these themes with chronological, global, and thematic perspectives. Our study will be focused on the major civilizations in the world. Primarily, we will consider those regions as a consequence of direct or indirect “contact” with the Western world, or as a result of major developments and/or alterations in the patterns of global exchange.  In addition to learning the content, we will also seek to improve writing, speaking, and analytical thinking skills.
