Freshman Enrollment FAQ

Why is my student being asked to take an English and Math Placement assessment?
Because we draw from several public and private middle schools, our students do not come to us with a known and consistent set of skills. Sometimes students can come to us with serious gaps in their educational preparation which we need to identify early to provide needed interventions. To help alleviate this issue, all new incoming students take a math and English writing assessment so that our teachers can be focused on remediation lessons for struggling students and identify those that excel in these subjects.

How will the assessment information be used?
Not only will this information help us to place students in the correct class, but it will also be invaluable to their freshman teachers to know their strengths and weaknesses.

What is Sign Up Genius and how is  it used?
Sign Up Genius is an online tool that HFAA uses periodically to allow parents to sign up for events such as Parent Teacher Conferences and Volunteer Opportunities at our school. Once you create your Sign Up Genius account, store your login/password information for future use. To access our Enrollment Night Sign Up Genius~ Go to our website Click Parents, click Freshman Enrollment Appointment Sign Up.

What can I expect on Enrollment Night?

Freshman are usually able to enroll in two elective courses. Go to our “Elective Courses” page on our website to preview these in advance of your appointment. ( Click Academics, Click Elective Courses.)

What can I expect on Schedule Pick-Up and Parent Orientation Night?
