Course Description:
Beginning piano builds music and keyboard knowledge by exposing the student to challenging repertoire, establishing sight-reading ability, and group exercises. Students are also exposed to a variety of composers and pianists.

Objectives:
This class is an introduction to basic piano technique. Students will learn to read music and interpret the music on the piano keyboard. The class will cover proper technique, basic music rudiments, as well as musicianship. Basic rudiments include, but are not limited to: scales, chords, fingering, phrasing, dynamics, memorisation, and performance. By the end of the year students can expect to be able to play basic piano pieces with 2 hands, using some basic piano accompaniment figures. Culminating project will be a piano recital
