Course Description:
English I is a freshman level course that focuses on the analysis of multiple types of literature and composition for a variety of purposes and audiences.

Objectives:

  • Students will learn to express themselves through composition for a variety of purposes and audiences, including reflective, creative, persuasive, and analytical writing.
  • Students will analyze a diverse body of literature including nonfiction, essays, poetry, short stories, and novels, responding to this literature through essays, in-class writing, journal entries, reading quizzes, group projects, class discussion, and exams.
  • Students will practice grammatical skills essential to the mastery of modern English conventions, implementing these skills through the completion of writing assignments.
